Background

Battery is the willful and harmful or offensive touching of another person, which results from an act intended to cause such contact, which contact is offensive to a reasonable sense of personal dignity.[1] Generally, in order to be guilty of a battery, a person must either intend to cause contact with another or is recklessly and criminally negligent in causing such contact.
