The accused may also be required to find persons to stand surety for him. The sureties will be required to enter to recognizances to pay a certain amount of money in the event of X defaulting and not standing trial: s 119 (109) CPEA. The court should property explain to sureties that if X defaults on his bail conditions, they will have to pay over the amount agreed to in the recognizance and they will lose this amount.
